About Nawara Academy

Nawara (نوّارة) is the Arabic word for a blossom — the flower a plant opens once it has drunk enough light. It grows from the root ن‌-و-ر, the very same root as noor, light. In one word, the name carries both halves of what we believe about knowledge:

Knowledge is light — it illuminates the path, as revelation describes itself as a light from Allah. And knowledge makes us blossom: a student who keeps returning to it, lesson after lesson, slowly unfolds — in understanding, in character, in worship — the way a bud opens petal by petal. No blossom appears overnight; it is the quiet result of steady nourishment. That is how this academy is built: complete, structured courses from trusted teachers, organised by field of knowledge, so you always know where you are planted and what comes next.

The emblem

Our mark is a crescent moon cradling a bright star against the night sky. The crescent curves upward to form the Arabic letter ن (noon) — the first letter of Nawara and of noor — while the star rests where its dot would sit, shining above it.

The night sky is deliberate. It is in the darkness that a single light matters most — and this is how the Qur’an describes itself and the guidance it brings: نُورٌ, a light by which Allah guides whoever seeks it out of the shadows into the light. Islam is that light for this life, and knowledge is how we walk by it: the star that steadies the traveller through the night, the crescent that promises the dawn. However dark the times, a person who carries even a little sacred knowledge is never truly in the dark — and is a lamp for others finding their way.

How this is built

Nawara Academy doesn't host, sell, or paywall anything. Every lesson is a free lecture that already exists on YouTube from a trusted teacher or institution — what we add is structure: sifting through full channels and playlists, pulling out complete series, and arranging them in the order they were meant to be watched. A scattered set of uploads becomes a real curriculum with a starting point and a destination.

Today the library holds 85 structured courses (2,200 lessons, roughly 1075 hours of teaching) across 12 fields of knowledge, a 30-day beginner path, a timeline of Islamic history and 27 free books.

All videos are hosted on YouTube and belong to their original channels; this site simply organises them. Your course progress is saved privately in your own browser — there is no account, no login and no tracking of who you are.

The app

If you would rather study with your progress kept for you, there is a companion Nawara Academy app. It holds the same 85 courses, and turns them into a night sky: every lesson you finish earns points, every course you complete lights a new star, and the moon fills from a thin crescent toward a full moon as you work through the library. It installs to your home screen from the browser, and still needs no account — progress can be carried to a new phone with a private code, or kept on one device only.

Questions people ask

Is Nawara Academy free?

Yes. Everything on Nawara Academy is completely free and there is no signup, account or paywall. Every lesson is a free lecture that already exists publicly on YouTube; the site only organises those lectures into ordered courses.

Who teaches the courses?

The lessons come from established teachers and institutions publishing on YouTube — among them Zad Academy (English), Safina Society, Bayyinah, the Deen Institute, Yaqeen Institute and other well-known channels. Nawara Academy does not teach or produce the videos; it curates and sequences them, and every video remains the property of its original channel.

Where should a beginner or a new Muslim start?

Start with The Essentials of Islam, a 30-day path of 30 to 45 minutes a day that covers what Islam is, what Muslims believe, how to purify oneself and pray, and the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is built from short lessons and needs no prior knowledge.

What subjects can I study on Nawara Academy?

Aqeedah and foundations of belief, Qur'an and Tafsir, Arabic and Qur'an reading, the Seerah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Islamic history, Fiqh and worship, Hadith sciences, character and family, Dawah and comparative religion, the Hereafter, Islamic finance, and general reminders.

Does Nawara Academy follow a particular madhhab or school of thought?

No single school is imposed. The library gathers courses from mainstream Sunni teachers across different institutions, and fiqh courses state the school or the position they teach from so students know what they are studying.

Is my progress saved, and do you collect my data?

Your course progress is stored privately in your own browser using local storage. There is no account, no login and no personal data collected by the site.

Can I read Islamic books on the site too?

Yes. The Books section links to free Islamic books on the Qur'an, adhkar and du'a, salah, Ramadan and Hajj, the Prophet (peace be upon him) and matters of the heart. Many can be read directly in the browser; all remain hosted by and belong to their publishers.
